Going Troppo

On our long trip this year we are actually going to cross the tropic of Capricorn.  So we will experience going troppo, a classic Ocker phrase covering people going berserk due to heat and humidity.  (As tomorrow's (24 June) forecast for Canberra is rain/hail, 45kph winds and a top of 9oC I reckon I can handle a bit of heat and humidity.)

It is interesting to see how the temperatures change as we head North.  These are the BoM monthly averages (for July as we go North and August on the way back).

Obviously a few things like distance from the coast and elevation also affect the temperature but the relationship looks pretty solid to me.

The first night, at Gilgandra, was pretty cool but nowhere near as bad as Carwoola or Coonabarrabran!
