A Bona Troll to the Sandy (Straights) and back

This report will deal with our Winter escape in 2015 with an aim of getting to the Fraser Coast of Queensland which includes the Great Sandy Straits.  I cannot let a name like that go by without referencing Julian and Sandy from Round the Horne; even though Julian would reject the word 'straights' with a passion.
In celebration of the work of Kenneth Williams (Julian) and Hugh Paddick (Sandy) in the nominated roles I will try to drop a little of their chat - using the language Polari - into the title of each day's post.  This overall post translates as "A good trip to ....."

Here is the basic route as planned (travelling anti-clockwise).
According to Google Maps the route is 3,096km and we plan to take about 25 days.

In fact this got seriously truncated due to grotty weather.  We turned back at Port Macquarie so the trip is just 6 days!

Here are links to daily posts
July 12 Hopefully leaving the naff weather behind
July 13 Weather still in the khazi
July 14 Bona tempus -finally
July 15 Memorials all over and Old Bottlebutt
July 16 Vada Heads of the Mid-North Coast
July 17 Where is El Nino when you need him?

As an overall summary of the trip I'd rate it as bona in parts (mainly Port Macquarie and environs) and naff in others (weather and Port Stephens).  Birding was acceptable and beer acquisition was very good.

    1. Not this year: we might fit most bits of it into a trip to Atherton next year.
